Inclement Weather Policy
Arts ‘n Motion will follow the Anne Arundel County Public School System for closings due to inclement weather. We will post messages pertaining to closings on the studio’s phone message.
Care of Students:
Arts ‘n Motion cannot be responsible for the care of students before or after class. We ask that you arrive promptly at the end of your child’s class. For the children’s safety, we also ask that parents come into the studio to pick them up. We do not allow children out in the parking lot unaccompanied by an adult.
Dress Code for dance classes
Coming to class properly dressed is a part of the discipline associated with taking dance classes. Arts ‘n Motion is able to size and order dance shoes and apparel for your child at prices lower than local dance supply stores.

Student Conduct
At Arts ‘n Motion we pride ourselves on the nurturing and fun atmosphere we create. However, for the safety and enjoyment of all participants, we reserve the right to dismiss any child whose behavior is disruptive, harmful or otherwise inappropriate.
Waiting Area
Arts ‘n Motion is proud of our new studio and we ask that you help us in keeping it clean and safe for our students and families. Smoking is prohibited in all areas of the studio. We are continuing to enhance our space so we can make the most of our studio. We will be adding bench seating in our lobby and cubbies/coat racks for our student’s belongings. We ask that if you have younger siblings with you while you are waiting for your child’s class to begin or end that you please do not allow them to run within our space. Also, Arts ‘n Motion is a peanut-free facility. We ask that you please refrain from eating any snacks in the lobby that may contain peanuts.
Viewing Windows
We do foster a family friendly atmosphere at Arts ‘n Motion. We want you and your child to be completely comfortable at our studio both in and out of the classroom. Our viewing windows have been a great advantage to our new studio space, but at the same time have a tendency to create a distraction to our dancers. Young artists are easily distracted when they are trying to please their teacher and their parents who are standing at the viewing windows for the entire class. So that your child can get the most out of their class experience and so that you, the parent, can recognize the growth and progress they make throughout the year, we will be implementing a new class viewing policy this fall. We ask that you refrain from standing at the studio window during your child’s class. They are much more comfortable when they can concentrate on their class, pay attention to their teacher and just have fun enjoying their art. We understand that the drop off process may be difficult at first for our younger dancers who are not enrolled in a Mommy & Me class, but we are confident that after a few short weeks they will become comfortable with their surroundings. Our teachers are experienced educators and we will do everything possible to help your child to feel comfortable in class. We will have a class visitation day where parents will be invited into the classroom to see the progress that the children have made. Visitation days will be listed on our studio calendar and a reminder will be sent out via email. We appreciate your cooperation with our new policy and we are certain that it will make for a calmer atmosphere both in our studio and in our classrooms.
Teachers
We ask that you please not enter the dance studio while your child is in class. This disturbs the teacher and interrupts your child’s attention in class. We also ask that should you need to speak with your child’s teacher that you please do so by leaving a message at the front desk. Our class schedule does not allow our teachers time between classes to speak with parents. They will be more than happy to assist you, however, by returning your call after they have finished their classes.
Studios
No food, gum or drinks are allowed in our studios. Water bottles with lids are permitted. Only dance shoes are allowed on the studio floors.
End of Year Recital
Our dance recital will be held on June 11 and 12, 2011. Tickets are $12 for adults and $5 for children. Babies and Toddlers sitting on an adults lap are free of charge. If additional tickets are needed beyond the two tickets included in the recital fee, parents must purchase them, but Arts ‘n Motion provides opportunities to receive one (1) free ticket to the show through volunteering. Recital ticket prices cover the cost of the auditorium rental, custodial services, etc. More information our annual recital will be explained in our Recital Handbook that is distributed in April.
Attendance & Make up classes
Students will benefit most from classes if their attendance is consistent. Making up missed classes is permitted, but please check with the studio in advance to verify that there is space available. If classes are cancelled due to inclement weather, every effort will be made to give students a chance to make up the class. We cannot give refunds for missed classes for any reason, including illness, vacation, inclement weather or otherwise. Please become familiar with the studio calendar regarding holiday closings. Our 36-week dance year does NOT include holidays, therefore there are no make up classes offered for them.
