Arts 'n Motion offers a variety of classes both as full year classes and session classes. Our dance classes and our musical theater classes are offered as full year programs. We also offer a limited number of dance classes (depending on the age the child) by the session. Our Sing 'n Dance Music and Movement classes and our Art classes are offered by the session only. Session classes usually run concurrent with the seasons (Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer). Our full year program runs concurrent with the school year (September - June) with a recital at the end of the year. Policies are listed below for both programs.

Tuition:  Tuition for the 2018/2019 full-year dance program is based on 35 weeks.  September 2018 tuition will be collected July 8th or if registering later at the time of enrollment.  October through May tuition paymets post on the 8th of each month.  Whether the month is short (3 weeks) or long (5 weeks), tuition remains the same.Session class tuition (no recital - Fall/Winter/Spring/Summer) is due in full at the time of enrollment.

Registration Fee: $40 for one child ($30 for returning students) and $65 for two or more children from the same household ($50 for returning families). All registrations fees are non-refundable and are due at registration.  Session (no recital - Fall/Winter/Spring/Summer) classes do not have a registration fee.

Recital & Costume Fees: A recital fee of $150 per student is payable in two payments. $77 of this fee is due on September 8th (or upon registation if after this date).  $75 is due with the November tuition payment. Costume fees $85 per additional costume will be calculated based on the student’s schedule and measurement size (child and adult size costume costs vary).

Costume Fees: If additional costumes are required (based on the number/type of class(es) your child is registered in) a $40 costume deposit, per additional costume, will also be due on Sept 8 with the $45 balance due with the November tuition payment. Each costume will include a pair of tights.  All classes will have 1 costume. Classes that require an additional costume are: Primary Combo II, Primary Combo III, Intermediate Combo and Dance For Teens.
All costume and recital fees must be paid in full by November 15, 2018. A student that withdraws from a class after purchasing a costume may pick up the costume in May 2019.  After this date, all costumes not picked will be donated to charity.

**Recital Fee Explanation
There are many expenses associated with a recital; some of the expenses are: music licensing fees, programs, set design and theater rental.

**Recital Note: Students are assumed to be performing in end of year recital unless they have opted out in writing. Students who wish to opt out must do so for all of their classes. If choosing to opt out of the recital please let us know in writing by December 18, 2016. If unforeseen circumstances arise after this date please speak with the director.

Tuition Late Fee: Monthly payments are due by the 8th of the month, no later than the 15th. After that time, a $10 late fee will be charged and enforced on all past due balances. A reminder e-mail will be sent on the 8th of each month, that payments are due. On the 15th late notices will be sent via e-mail. If account balances remain in arrears for more than 2 months, dancers will not be permitted to take classes or perform until balances are paid in full. Communication with the Director is always encouraged if financial difficulty arises.

Withdrawal:  One-month’s notice is required to withdraw from classes. Requests for withdrawal must be submitted in writing no later than the 20th of the month and will be considered effective on the 8th of the following month. If written notice is not received prior to the 20th, your account will be charged the following month’s tuition. Military families, please contact the director regarding deployments, etc.

Refunds:  Registration fees are non-refundable. Recital fees and costume payments can only be refunded prior to December 1, 2018. If Arts ‘n Motion finds it necessary to cancel a class, a refund will be issued.

Student Class Placement
All classes are based on the student’s age as of September 1st, no exceptions. A student may select a class in a younger age group, but may not choose a class in an older age group. The director has the final say as to which class(es) students are placed in.

Teacher Communication
We ask that you please not enter the dance studio while your child is in class. This disturbs the teacher and interrupts your child’s attention in class. We also ask that should you need to speak with your child’s teacher, please do so by leaving a message at the front desk. Our class schedule does not allow our teachers time between classes to speak with parents. They will be more than happy to assist you, however, by returning your call after they have finished their classes.

Student Conduct
At Arts ‘n Motion we pride ourselves on the nurturing and fun atmosphere we create. However, for the safety and enjoyment of all participants, we reserve the right to dismiss any child whose behavior is disruptive, harmful or otherwise inappropriate.

Also, Arts ‘n Motion is a peanut-free facility. We ask that you please refrain from eating any snacks in the lobby that may contain peanuts.
• Parents are asked to keep students and waiting siblings from aggressive horseplay in the waiting areas. This includes standing on and jumping from benches and window sills.

Viewing Windows
We do foster a family friendly atmosphere at Arts ‘n Motion. We want you and your child to be completely comfortable at our studio both in and out of the classroom. Our viewing windows have been a great advantage to our studio space, but at the same time have a tendency to create a distraction to our dancers. Young artists are easily distracted when they are trying to please their teacher and their parents who are standing at the viewing windows for the entire class. So that your child can get the most out of their class experience and so that you, the parent, can recognize the growth and progress they make throughout the year, we ask that you refrain from standing at the studio window or door during your child’s class. They are much more comfortable when they can concentrate on their class, pay attention to their teacher and just have fun enjoying their art.
We understand that the drop off process may be difficult at first for our younger dancers who are not enrolled in a Mommy & Me class, but we are confident that after a few short weeks they will become comfortable with their surroundings. Our teachers are experienced educators and we will do everything possible to help your child to feel comfortable in class.

Care of Students: Arts ‘n Motion cannot be responsible for the care of students before or after class.
• Please arrive promptly at the end of your child’s class.
•Please come into the studio to pick them up. We do not allow children out in the parking lot unaccompanied by an adult.
• Please make every effort to arrive on time (about 5 minutes early) for your child’s class, having them dressed properly with the appropriate shoes at the start time of class
• Please do not allow children to wear their dance shoes outside of the studio. Sidewalks and dirt can ruin the shoes as well as damage our dance floors.
• Please have your child bring their shoes to and from class in a dance bag. Please be sure that all bags and shoes are labeled with your child’s first and last name.
• Please have your child use the restroom prior to class to avoid having to leave during the middle of class. When one goes—they all have to go!
• Please remind dancers and siblings to not run in the studio or parking lot for safety reasons.
• Please check in at the front desk for attendance.
• Please let us know if your child will be absent so that we can make arrangements for your make up class. Please always call the studio or visit the desk to schedule a make up class.
• Please respect our instructors. All classes are closed session. Do not open the door during class time. Please wait patiently in the hall. When classes are over, the instructor will open the door for the next class to enter.

Inclement Weather Policy: Arts ‘n Motion will follow the Anne Arundel County Public School System for closings due to inclement weather. We do not close for AACPS holidays/teacher work days. We will post messages pertaining to closings on the studio’s phone message and web site. If classes are cancelled due to inclement weather, every effort will be made to give students a chance to make up the class.

End of Year Recital
Our dance recital will be held on Saturday June 8, 2019. Tickets are $15 for anyone occupying a seat (adult or child) and purchased through an online ticketing company.  Online sales are closed beginning the first day of dress rehearsal.  Tickets will still be available for purchase, but will be $20 per ticket after online sales have closed. There is a service fee per ticket charged by the ticket company.  Babies and Toddlers sitting on an adults lap are free of charge. If additional tickets are needed beyond the two tickets included in the recital fee, parents must purchase them. Arts ‘n Motion provides opportunities to receive one (1) free ticket to the show through volunteering. Recital ticket prices help cover the cost of the auditorium rental, custodial services, etc. More information about our annual recital will be explained in our Recital Handbook distributed in April.

Recital Policy: A Parent or guardian should bring the students to the stage door where they will be checked in and placed under the supervision of their class mom(s). Parents are not allowed backstage once the children have been checked in for the show. Parents or guardians should bring the students to the stage door 45 minutes prior to show time. Parents will then go around to the front entrance of the auditorium to enter for the show. Auditorium doors will open 30 minutes prior to show time. For security reasons, we cannot allow dancers to leave the backstage area at anytime during the performance. Class moms will have fun and entertaining activities backstage for dancers while they are waiting to perform. At the end of the recital performance and after an entire cast curtain call, dancers will be released from the stage to their parent or guardian.

Recital Length & Performance Dates: We have 3 shows this year to be sure that our show performance length is child (and parent) friendly. Most of our younger dancers have their own show on June 8, 2019 at 11am . This show typically last about 1 hour. Our older dancers are split into the two remaining shows, June 8, 2019 at 2PM and 5PM. These shows typically last about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. All three shows end with a full cast curtain call and all dancers will be released from the stage by class to a parent or guardian. Dancers must remain backstage during the entire performance. Information on which show your child will be performing, will be available May 1, 2019.
